Lake Catholic High School has forfeited Saturday’s game against Toledo St. John following disciplinary actions on numerous members of the school football team following a hazing incident that was reported last week.
“As a result of its investigation into the recent allegations of hazing, Lake Catholic High School has determined that certain disciplinary action, in accordance with the school’s policies and Student Code of Conduct, is necessary to address this serious issue,” said a statement released by the school Friday. “As part of this disciplinary action, the school has issued a one-game suspension to a number of players on its varsity football team.”
Due to the suspensions, the school was forced to forfeit Saturday’s game.
Several from both teams talked about it on social media. There’s disappointment.
Tyler T. ?from St. John’s tweets:
“I had family fly in from Florida and Pittsburgh just to see me play for the first time.”
The head football coach at Toledo St. John’s tweeted:
“Mandatory Team Meeting at 7:56 am in McQuade theatre tomorrow. Lake Catholic is forfeiting the game. We still need to meet.”
“Lake Catholic High School strives to create a truly Catholic environment in which all students are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve as children of God,” the statement said. “As such, Lake Catholic does not tolerate actions by its students or staff members which are contrary to our Catholic values and character.”
