RNN) – Frederick Joseph of New York, created a GoFundMe to take kids in Harlem to see the highly anticipated “Black Panther” movie and in just 6 days he has already exceeded his goal.

Joseph created the fundraiser on January 5, with an initial goal of $10,000, as of Thursday more than $30,000 had been raised.

Since he has raised significantly more than his requested amount, Joseph said he will expand the reach and share proceeds, calling on others across the nation to join in what has been dubbed the #BlackPantherChallenge.

Social media marketing helped raise awareness of the campaign, with even the official GoFundMe page re-tweeting Joseph’s efforts.

Joseph outlined the motivation behind the fundraiser as “a rare opportunity for young students (primarily of color) to see a black major cinematic and comic book character come to life. This representation is truly fundamental for young people, especially those who are often under served, unprivileged, and marginalized both nationally and globally.”

“Black Panther” stars Chadwick Boseman and is directed by Ryan Coogler (Creed, Fruitvale Station) and premieres during Black History Month on Feb. 16.
