The Cuyahoga Falls Police officer who was seriously injured when a man allegedly intentionally hit his patrol vehicle over the weekend has been identified as Patrolman Ted Davis.

According to the department’s Facebook page, Davis is an 11-year veteran of the department and is still hospitalized from his injuries.

The incident happened at about 1:18 a.m. Saturday when a man ran his vehicle into several parked cruisers in the police department’s parking lot. The suspect’s vehicle left the lot and was later involved in a crash with Davis’ vehicle.

Police said the driver caused significant damage to three police vehicles in the lot. They pursued the vehicle when the driver fled the scene. They said the driver purposely crossed into Davis’ lane and struck his patrol vehicle. Davis was taken to the hospital. He suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

The driver was also taken to the hospital for injuries. Those injuries are also not life threatening.

Police are asking the public to keep Davis and his family in their thoughts and prayers as he recovers.

The incident is under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
